The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is seeking a full time membership and development associate. The membership and development associate acts as the administrative assistant for the entire membership and development department. Successful candidate will have good phone presence and the ability to deliver excellent customer service to donors.
Primary responsibilities include accurate and timely data entry of donor gifts to ATC, answering the telephone and directing calls appropriately and assisting in the acceptance and acknowledgement of donor gifts received via phone, email and mail.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, be solicitous and have a diplomatic attitude. This individual must be able to work well under pressure and have a demonstrated exceptional ability to pay attention to details. The successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office products especially Word and Excel. Experience with non-profit donor management software is strongly desired.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Membership Manager, this position provides administrative and data entry support to the Development Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general data entry, clerical duties, including filing, answering phones and assisting with mail processing.
Process donations and generate the reports for all of the membership data entry, including address changes.
Process and organize the matching gift company’s forms. Also conduct research on acquiring new matching gift companies.
Process and organize the pro-deal orders for fellow employees.
Prepare the Tribute report for the ATJourney’s bimonthly magazine.
Responds professionally to routine correspondence or telephone calls concerning individual memberships and contributions, with an emphasis on resolving errors or misunderstandings quickly and pleasantly.
Process the monthly donors on or around the 15th of every month, including reconciliation and corrections of errors and rejects.
Perform other duties as assigned or endorsed by manager, including assistance to other managers and employees in areas related to membership and development.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required. B.A. preferred
3-5 years’ work experience strongly desired.
Ability to work well with the public.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong competence with Microsoft Office and database applications.
High degree of initiative and a team player.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to communicate with individuals by phone, email and in person.
Working on the phone or computer for prolonged periods.
Some travel may be required.
Ability to lift 25-30 pounds on a sporadic basis to organize inventory
Moderate noise level due to an office environment with a high level of activity on the phone, computers and printers.
